My name is Hoan, I am a licensed English-speaking tour guide and local tour operator based in Dien Bien Phu, Vietnam, specializing in bespoke private tours, historical travel, and cultural experiences in Northwest Vietnam.


A Local Guide Born and Raised in Dien Bien

I was born and raised in Dien Bien and have spent much of my professional life working across remote highland regions such as Dien Bien, Tua Chua, Muong Nhe, and surrounding border areas. Before focusing fully on tourism, I was involved in community development work with international organizations, which gave me a deep understanding of local life, cultural values, and the importance of long-term responsibility.


Professional Experience in Tourism Since the Early 2000s

My professional involvement in tourism began in the early 2000s, when I worked in hotel operations, tour management, and as a local guide. After that period, I spent several years working in other professional fields. In late 2023, I returned fully to the tourism sector with a focused commitment — serving as both tour operator and on-the-ground guide for selected important groups, ensuring not only the quality and credibility of every journey but also upholding the long-term reputation of Hoang Nam Travel Dien Bien.

 


Tourism Roles (2000–2009)

Between 2000 and 2009, I worked in various roles within the local tourism sector, including hotel management, tour operations, and local guiding. During this period, I had the privilege of supporting and guiding a wide range of visitors, including delegations from U.S. military academies, Western journalists, and historians, many of whom were researching the Dien Bien Phu campaign and the broader context of the First Indochina War.

Alongside my role as a guide, I operate a legally licensed local travel company, specializing in bespoke and privately tailored tours in Dien Bien and across Northwest Vietnam. By combining guiding and tour operations, I take full responsibility for each journey — from planning and logistics to on-the-ground experience.
